The Kansas City Chamber Choir was founded in Autumn of 2016, originally, as The Kansas City African American Carolers. Once we realized that we wanted to sing more than just Christmas music, we became The Kansas City Multicultural Chamber Choir! It wasn't until the Summer of 2018 that we became The Kansas City Chamber Choir.
We are a sixteen-person chorus that performs classical and contemporary choral music from Thomas Tallis & Sergei Rachmaninov to Eric Whitacre & Ola Gjeilo. We have performed at many different venues like The Fishtank Theater, The Original Johnson County Courthouse in Warrensburg, MO, on The Country Club Plaza, and much more.
Though our name has changed, our goal, now, is still the same as it was three years ago: to provide a safe space for marginalized and underrepresented persons and their allies to create music together. To take our many voices and create one, beautiful sound.
Our Creative Director, Vaughan Harrison, spearheads the entire chorus; from designing our websites, curating music, programming the concerts, designing marketing materials, & conducting rehearsals, his passion can be found throughout every aspect of the choir's existence. He possesses no formal musical degree and insists that compassion, patience, and a deep love for music have brought the chorus to where they are today.
